COFFEE GROWING REGIONS OF GUATEMALA

Located in Latin America, coffee from Guatemala is some of the best coffee in the world. Grown at an altitude of up to 6,500 feet, Guatemala is one of the highest-rated coffee makers because of its unique and vibrant flavors. The combination of high elevation, temperature, and moist climate creates an optimal environment to grow coffee beans.

Guatemalan coffee beans are known for their robust, full-body flavors, accredited to the regions in which they are grown. Avenidas grows some of the highest-rated coffee beans in Latin America: Antigua, Cobán, and Huehuetenango. The higher the altitude of the growing region, the stronger the flavor is. Further, factors including soil, weather, and sunlight are critical to Guatemala's coffee beans' distinct flavors.

The Antigua region is located at an elevation of just over 5000 feet in Guatemala's central highlands. Coffee beans from the Antigua region produce some of the best coffee grains, which are described as having hints of cocoa, full-body, spicy, rich, and smooth. Surrounded by three volcanoes, its soil is optimal for growing coffee beans. Antigua is the most popular of the coffees in Guatemala, making the region one of the greatest coffee makers.

Coffee beans from the north-central Guatemalan Coban Region are described as having hints of wine, being full to medium body, and rich, spicy, and floral flavors. Coban is unique compared to the coffees of the other two regions as it is located in a rainforest region. The region's elevation ranges from 4,300-5,000 feet, receives few hours of sunlight and lots of rain, and has unique clay and limestone soil. Its unique geography makes it the most unique coffee from Guatemala.
